By now you’ve probably heard a friend, or 3 or 4, are planning to move to Idaho. That maybe has you wondering “Why Idaho?”. Well, believe it or not, Idaho is WAY more than just potatoes!
In fact, Idaho has been ranked in the top 20 for the best place to live, the safest place to live, the fastest-growing place, and the best place to live for quality of life.
Welcome to IDAHO
Here are just a few things to love about Idaho.
-
Boise is ranked as one of the best capitals in the United States. Boise is the perfect combination of small-town vibes and the busyness of a big city. What's not to love? Boise has even made several national "Top Ten" lists such as "Best Travel-Worthy State Capitals" by USA Today in 2016.
-
Whether camping, fishing, rafting, snowboarding, hiking, or hunting, Idaho residents love to be outdoors. And with so much natural beauty all around, who can blame them?
-
According to Census data, Idaho’s homeownership rate is the 12th-highest in the nation, at 69.6%. Given the state’s low population density it makes sense that most Idaho residents are homeowners in single-family dwellings rather than renters in multi-family buildings. The current median home price in Ada County is just over $400,000.
-
Several surveys list Idaho as one of the most favorable states for job seekers. A U.S.News report in 2017 listed Idaho as 13th overall, eighth in job growth, and 10th in the low unemployment rate. CNBC ranked Idaho forth in its report, “Top states to find a job in America in 2017.” In the listing, “Best States For Future Job Growth,” Idaho was ranked No. 9 by Forbes.

People seem to be just less busy here. They make time for family, outdoor adventures, activities in the community, and more. Most weekends there are several community events happening like the 8th Street Market, which happens every Saturday during the Spring and Summer months, or fun community building events downtown.
-
Idaho features four beautiful and unique seasons each and every year. Fall colors are beautiful. Having a white Christmas is dreamy. The cool spring is refreshing. And a warm summer is perfect for spending your day lakeside.
-
Idaho has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire country.
-
Okay, sometimes there is a little bit of traffic, but think more “30-40 minutes going a specific direction during rush hour” vs “I spend half my day on this freeway”, kind of traffic That's nothing compared to some places!
-
I’m warning you now if you make eye contact with a stranger, they just might smile and say hi! Seriously! Idahoans make jokes that you shouldn’t move here but truthfully Idahoans are some of the nicest people in America. It’s unexpected and refreshing!

A local brewery is just a stone's throw away in Idaho. We have probably just as many wineries, too! Agriculture is also big here. With that means fresh meat and produce probably only having to travel a few hours to get to your table! Idahoans take pride in shopping local businesses so they can be found for almost all your needs!
